Hi Kenwood Students and Families!

My name is Sue Pehrson and I am very excited to be your new music teacher!  I have taught music to all ages from infants to 8th grade for 30 years.  I love my work and can’t wait to meet my new students and their families.

I taught in the Minneapolis schools from 1994-2009 at Seward, Wilder Early Childhood and Lake Harriet Upper. After that, I moved to Eagle, Colorado and taught in two schools, Brush Creek Elementary in Eagle, and Red Sandstone Elementary in Vail. I enjoyed my adventures skiing, mountain biking and hiking.  I decided to move back to Minnesota because I now have three grandchildren who all live here and there will be another baby arriving in October!  I am grateful to be back and feel lucky to work at Kenwood.

In music class, we will sing, dance and play instruments every week! I believe (and it’s a scientific fact) that children who study music thrive in other subjects in school and benefit socially and emotionally.  We will play ukulele, (or guitar if you have one) drums, Orff instruments (xylophones), and keyboards. Mostly, we will have fun and make a lot of music together.
