Welcome to room 204!

I’m so excited to get to know all of you and have another stupendous year at Kenwood! Fourth grade is big year! Students will gain more autonomy, confidence, self and social awareness as learners while building strong positive relationships with peers and teachers in our classroom community. We will dive into intentionally grouped book clubs, writer's workshops, and cross-curricular math, science, and social studies explorations. Discussing social-justice issues and examining diverse perspectives is at the heart of our learning in room 204. I can't wait to grow and learn with you!

I earned my Bachelor's Degrees in English Literature, Creative Writing, and Elementary Education in 2009 as well as a Master’s Degree in Gifted and Talented Education in 2017 from the University of St. Thomas. I have taught preschool through middle school and have worked closely with advanced learners in grades 3-5 before joining the Kenwood team in 2019. 

My children, Ollie and Lucy, are both MPS students at Sanford Middle and Dowling Elementary School. We are nature enthusiasts who regularly camp, bike, and hike. Our family is lucky to live two blocks from the Mississippi River and many off-road trails to explore everyday with our dog, Teddy. We also have a very large cat, Ashitaka, who prefers to stay home. 

At home, I love to READ, cook, and make/listen to music. I also enjoy dancing, yoga, and art. I spent all of my childhood and young adulthood as a classically trained dancer. Now, I get to enjoy taking Lucy, my daughter, to dance 5 days a week! I can't wait to share my love of literature, nature, music and art with you this year while learning about YOUR passions!
