Hello! My name is Michael Peterson. This is my third year with MPS and Kenwood Elementary. I have taught English abroad and Physical Education but have discovered that my true passion is in Special Education.

I have a Bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota and a Master's degree in Special Education from the University of St. Thomas.

I believe in the power of educating the whole child. Nurturing their sense of self and innate wonder comes first. I believe in the power of learning through play, social interactions and incorporate these priorities into my daily instruction. I was born and raised in South Minneapolis and still live in the Standish neighborhood with my wife and one-year-old daughter. I love to bike, hike, camp, paddle, and explore the world.
